257 Squadron

Squadron Motto: “Thay Myay Gyee Shin Shwe Hti” (Death or Glory)

257 Squadron was formed on 18th August 1918 at Dundee.

On 27th October 1950 257 Squadron arrived at Wattisham flying Meteor F8 jet fighters.

The squadron took part in the impressive Coronation Flypast of 2nd June 1953.

257 Squadron replaced the Meteor F8 with the Hunter F2 on 29th September 1954.

Runway repairs at Wattisham saw 257 Squadron move out to Wymeswold, and they disbanded on 31st March 1957.
